HOUSTON WELLS

Back ground music.  All For The Love Of A Girl

Hi

I wonder if you might be interested to feature the new release by Houston
Wells on the UK-based Jasmine label. Houston is something of a legend in the
UK and in many other parts of the world because of his connection with the
renowned producer Joe Meek. Houston Wells & The Marksmen hit the UK charts
in the 60s with recordings made at the Meek studios. He recorded some superb
tracks with Meek - most of them very country in nature. Then in the early
70s, Wells left the business and emigrated to New Zealand where he has lived
ever since.

Since then, Wells has performed occasionally and has layed down numrous fine
tracks which were never released. Now this new release provides a 2CD set
with side one offering mainly early cuts from the 60s and CD2 presenting
contemporary country recordings made in new Zealand.

Instrumental in recording the later tracks are such people as the guitarist,
producer, singer and songwriter Robert Smith (Houston's son) plus producer
Dave Maybee and NZ songstress Joy Adams.

If you want to know more I can arrange for a copy to be sent to you but in
the meantime you can see the release at the Jasmine website
www.jasmine-records.co.uk

You may be interested to know that I have been compiling a number of
releases of vintage country music for Jasmine and have used recordings by
Tex Morton, Cole Wilson, Les Wilson and Johnny Granger as well as numerous
Australian stars.

I am not an employee of Jasmine but do compile albums and write the liner
notes for many of their country albums. I have worked on the Houston Wells
album in conjunction with Houstonand he is delighted to see these recordings
being released at last.

Best regards
