The Shotover Country Music Club. 21st Birthday Festival Lake
Hayes Show Grounds 9—10—11th
March. 2007 Report On 21st

The weekend was
“magic” starting on Friday night with a meet and greet at the Lake Hayes
Show grounds pavilion. Saturday kicked off
at 10am and continued through to 10.30 pm non- stop. This included a 3 hour
Showcase with 13 Recording artists
and 4 past Gold Guitar Winners on stage. Bryan Townley and Louise Wilson both
former winners, current Intermediate winner Anna Macdonald, Kristen Macdonald a
past Junior winner and our own Enya Corson also doing well for herself as a
singer/songwriter. Well done all
the artists and comperes for keeping the Show running as the programme was set
out to finish at 10 pm. Sunday again started at 10am and went through until
5.30pm. A huge weekend with
two bands and four comperes changing every 2 hours and a great line up of top
New Zealand talent which will be remembered by this club and all who attended
for a long time. The weather was just unreal . 10.30 on Saturday night and it
was still really mild . The weekend apart from the Meet and Greet was all
outside. Comperes for the
weekend “Cowboy” from Radio Dunedin, John Linton , Bryan Townley and Maureen
Calvert of Invercargill did a tremendous job of keeping the show rolling and Back- ground
organisation was excellent helping make this undertaking a great success. Reg.

What can anyone say about the scenery and the weather!!
Both were absolutely perfect. Friday night was a
get-together and jam session-- and
it was good to catch up with so many artists.
Saturday and Sunday were perfect weather—great Backing Bands and food
and drinks available on site. Gazebos
were set up for shade- and the scenery was great from all angles.
The Shotover Club did a great job to host so many of our New Zealand
Recorded Artists—plus include so many others, including the young ones also.
Those who attended the weekend were well entertained. The Committee of the
Shotover Club were sporting new special edition T-Shirts to mark the
occasion—and one was auctioned on Sunday.
This will be a very special T-Shirt, so I hope it is tucked away safe
somewhere. All the Artists signed
this T-Shirt—so it will become a real
collectors item. They managed to
push the bidding over the $100 mark—and the lucky bidder was Vance Gore.
Congratulations Vance! Well Done! I wish Reg McTaggart
and the Shotover Club best wishes for their 21 years--- and
