We have just returned from a
most enjoyable trip to Levin, where we caught-up with Rocky Don Hall, and
spent a most enjoyable 2 hours with him at our motel. Rocky is no longer
working in the business as a performer, but he is doing his own thing, in a
different way, and really enjoying life.
We also enjoyed the music of
the group "Highland Country", comprising of Tom Calder and
Chris Down. they were the entertainment for the evening at the Levin
Cosmopolitan Club, Tom plays a very nice piano accordeon, and Chris rhythm
guitar, and they both sing, and their music is a very popular blend of many
styles, and it went down a treat.
For those people who have links
with the Manawatu Country Music Club, or even if you just love Country Music,
I suggest you get along to The Central Normal School Community Hall, at 201
Featherston Street Palmerston North, on Saturday the 21st of August, it runs
from 10am to 5.30pm, and it is the 40th birthday celebrations of the club. It
promises to be a really good day.
The committee of the 2ZH
Country Music Club have kindly organised a special night to recognise the
achievements, of two people, namely Rex and Noelene Franklin, and that will be
held at the Hawera Bowling Club Hall in Hawera, beginning at 7.30pm on Friday
the 27th of August.
We would love to see as many as
possible of our friends along there. Mary Eunson and her fellow committee
menbers are going to a lot of trouble to make it a real success. See you
there, if you can make it.
We got quite a buzz, when we
were told that someone had downloaded one of our songs from itunes, and made a
special video of the television show "Coronation Street",
incorporating all the actors of the time that I wrote the song. gave us a
real buzz.
